Wallaces Hut was built in 1889 and is the oldest still standing mountain hut of the 106 huts in the Alpine National Park. Constructed from local timber as shelter for the cattlemen who used to drive their herds up the mountains to graze on the high country plains in summer.
With work being really busy and a few other things going on recently I was very keen to just escape it all and spend a night back under the stars. So straight after work on Friday I threw all my gear into my car and headed back up into the Alpine National Park. I last visited this hut at night nearly two years ago and have always wanted to go back and do a time lapse shoot. I set up two lights- one inside part of the hut and one outside to slightly illuminate the outside of the building while the camera clicked away continuously.
...........and yes Orion is upside down if you live in the Northern Hemisphere. The streak running through Orion is a meteor that I managed to capture in this frame.
