Hello to all my wonderful watchers

I have lots of things to cover.  First is that DA finally allowed us to change our user names as you would have already seen.  When I first joined DA it was so that I could comment on a friends work and the username was just spur of the moment decision.  Now I need something a bit more professional.  Hence the name change.  Speaking of that friend that I joined DA for.....
I am very pleased to say that my good friend Shaun :iconsyndyne: picked up his first DD for his great lightning capture "First Contact" First Contact by Syndyne recently thanks to a suggestion from a certain someone :D  This is the only image I have ever suggested for a DD.  100% strike rate!  If you are not already following Shaun's work please check him out.

Last week I was interviewed and had my photo taken for a local paper on my astrophotography.  I certainly prefer being on the other side of the camera, but am pretty happy with the write up.  Good to get some more recognition of what I do.  I'll try and get the article up here at some stage but until then you can see the picture of my telescope that featured in the article here www.flickr.com/photos/shooting…; There is also just some random guy standing next to it.  Just ignore him.  I don't recognise him at all ;-)

Getting more and more excited about the upcoming Venus Transit.  If you have not already seen it I have an resource guide to the event here greg-gibbs.deviantart.com/jour… .  With less than three days to go the weather forecast for my area is looking promising so I might not have to travel to find clear skies.  It will be great if I don't have to travel as it will mean that I can have family and friends over to look at this historic event.

Had a great night at a local lake during the month.  Very happy with the reaction to the first picture from that location "Rising Tide."  It is now one of the most faved images of mine on here.  Stay tuned for one or two more from that same night.

You also might have seen that I posted another journal just before this one.  It is a journal to hopefully save me a lot of time on the computer, allowing me to take more of the photos you like.  I answer some common questions and provide resources to send you on your way into the money pit that is astrophotography.  In case you missed it you can find it here greg-gibbs.deviantart.com/jour…

This month I am just going to feature one artist (mainly because I have already spent way to much time on this computer already today).......

I only came across Knate's :iconk-n-8: great work last month after I (from memory) saw one of his images in a journal that I was also featured in.  When I checked out his page it was like I had found a twin and I couldn't believe that his work had had so little attention.  Knate is a very talented photographer of the night sky and has some stunning night sky scapes and lightning captures.  Please check out Knate's page and if you like what you see throw some favs and watches his way.  Some of Knate's great work.....
