A small diversion from my usual night sky photography. An approaching storm on the 23rd of December. This one was headed straight for me and I had a garbage bag ready to go over the camera as soon as the rain started. About three minutes after doing this two image panorama the heavy rain started and I had to run for the car. Lightning was a lot closer than it appears here due to the wide angle lens and the field of view.

If you really want to see great lightning shots check out my friend Shaun's work :iconsyndyne: He is the master. I am an amateur in comparison. Please do yourself a favor and check him out.....

Woohoo! :iconwoohooplz: Awesome shot, Greg! What's a little rain? You probably needed a bath anyway :O But you were right to run...Rain is not our cameras friend

It's cool how I first found you on DA, then found Shaun through you and Datazoid too, so oyu can't blame me for hanging around bugging you guys--It's all because of your shot with that strange sign and the milky way. ;)

:lmao: Thank you very much again John. Yeah I probably did need that bath :D Storms have been few and far between for me this season so far. Good to finally get some action.
I am very glad you found me in the first place. I always value your feedback. Also glad that I led you to Shaun and Russell.

:wow: What a beast of a storm! That base was worth photographing by itself, let alone capturing bolts in there too. I'm always highly impressed with anyone that can catch daytime bolts! Nice work :D

The rain can certainly be a pain at times. We had a bust yesterday due to rain. Six active cells all around us right on sunset and raining the entire time. Jase managed a few shots that he may post at some point. I just played the role of his assistant and left the camera in the ute lol.

Thanks for the kind words too. Very much appreciated

Thank you very much mate :D Although it certainly wasn't "daytime". Taken just as the sun was setting. So still light enough to light up the landscape a bit, but dark enough to allow a long exposure of about 15 seconds or so.

Ahh okay

Still a great shot anyhow :D
Just watching the radar now. Storms forming right on Bourke. That gives us about two hours or so before arrival. We'll definitely be keeping an eye on it!
