Stargazing II by CapturingTheNight Stargazing II by CapturingTheNight

Self Portrait under the stars.

Set timer on camera. Run up the hill in the dark while trying not to trip over and break neck. Sit on rock outcrop and stay completely still for 30 seconds (not as easy as it sounds). Stumble back down hill to the camera and look at the result. Repeat until you get it right.

Taken the same night as.......

Thanks so much Brian. :D No flash used. The landscape (and me) is lit by the light from the moon.

Well you got your shot! How many times (dare I ask) did it take? I still can't imagine how you manage this, despite reading some of your info. But I sure do admire it!

I'd like to try this type of shot but always worry about noise. Do you have any noise issues with the long exposures?

Noise is always going to be an issue with these sort of high ISO and long exposure shots but there are numerous ways to deal with noise later in post processing. The 5D Mk II is still one of the best cameras (eclipsed now by the latest generation) for handling high ISO noise.
You really should try it yourself one day.
