Saturn by CapturingTheNight Saturn by CapturingTheNight
Last year I sold my deep sky imaging telescope as I was simply not using it anymore.  A few weeks later I ended up buying a second hand telescope that is a lot more powerful than my old one but it is more designed for visual use.  While I will not be able to get the really long exposure nebula/galaxies/clusters type images anymore this new telescope does allow me to zoom in and image planets and the moon in much greater detail than before.  I took this "first light" image of Saturn back in July last year and I hope to do a lot more planetary imaging this year and build up to better and better quality.

Last night Venus and Mars were showing particularly well in the clear skies over my home town so I decided to have a quick look through my bird watching scope. Not being very powerful all it served in doing was making me yearn for a proper telescope like the one I sold a few years back. My fondest memory of it was seeing Saturn for the first time, almost exactly as you have captured it here. What a coincidence that you should reinforce that memory. Nice capture and great timing to post it. :)

Wow! It really does look like that. I didn't know such viewers were on the market. Technology has definitely come a long way. :)
