The thing I love about pictures like this is that it really gives a perspective of where we reside in comparison to the galactic center. The Milky Way gets so muted in the 'States because of all the light pollution that the connection of being off of a spiral arm that rotating around that seems a lot more abstract.

May i ask, how you make those pictures, long exposure draws trails over sky, do you have some tracking tripod head?

Read this [link] While, yes, I do own a tracking telescope mount I can assure you that this is done with just a camera and standard tripod. I use the tracking mount for my deep space photography, not my nightsky scapes.
