I have been waiting for Comet Lovejoy to rise high enough away from the sun to be able to do a deep sky image of it. I finally got that chance a couple of days ago. You can see how faint it has become against the plane of the Milky Way. The bright star at the top left of the frame is Alpha Centauri which along with Proxima Centauri (not visable to the unaided eye) is the closest star system to our own Sun at a mere 4.24 light years away. Who's coming with me???
