"Beacons In The Night"

Cape Schank, Australia.  9th of January, 2014

With the possibility of a large aurora display from a predicted Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) impact I made a six hour dash after work to the southern coast of Australia last week.  Whilst keeping one eye on the southern horizon and waiting in hope for the arrival of the CME, I turned my camera back towards the Cape Schank Lighthouse and the setting Moon towards the west.

(Sadly the aurora we were all hoping for never eventuated.  The CME arrived after sunrise for me in Australia, and was much weaker than predicted.  Such is the life of an aurora chaser sometimes)
