I have not done a star trail image for quite a while now. Every time the weather is perfect I get my telescope out and I'm generally too distracted imaging through it that I almost always forget to setup my other camera. Last night I wanted to do a star trail image featuring my astrophotography telescope in action (stay tuned for the images captured with it). The telescope is illuminated by various lights on my imaging equipment. The red streaks are caused by me walking to and from the telescope with a red light torch to protect my night vision. A meteor strike is visable on the left side of the frame.
If you want to try something like this yourself, then this is a very good tutorial on how to do it [link] A free downloadable program which can stack the images for you [link] A reminder to my watchers that I am currently running a star trails competetition as detailed in my latest journal [link]
