DA is dying for photographers. Or is it already dead?

13 deviants said I have noticed a huge decline in activity from nature/landscape/sky photographers on here in the last six months or so.

13 deviants said Perhaps I should take up drawing anime nightsky scapes. With Orion saying "POW" and Scorpio saying "!" and with the bottom part of Cassiopeia pixellated for some reason...........you will get it one day kids

12 deviants said And if you actualy voted on it, it now no longer makes any sence.

9 deviants said Is there even an Animals, Plants and Nature admin anymore? I just went back over recent DD's and was hard pressed to find a single one from that category over the last month.

7 deviants said Is capturing a photo of an awe inspiring landscape, a fleeting animal, or a beautifully delicate flower no longer an ART?

7 deviants said I started out showing my work online on this site and it will always be special for that reason. But this seemingly abandonment of nature photographers makes one question if it is even worth staying here.

Hello all

:bulletblue: I hope everyone is well.  I once again apologise for my decrease in activity here lately.  A lot of my limited spare time has been used getting my website fully up and running.   It has taken a while, but I am pleased to announce that I am now offering prints of my work. Please check out my website for all the details www.capturingthenight.com  [link]

Now that that is up and running, I should have a lot more time on my hands to take more photos for you all and respond to any comments in a more timely manner..........hopefully :D

:bulletblue: You should have noticed by now that I have changed my user name here once again.  I did this to bring my DA profile in sync with my website.  I apologise for any confusion.

:bulletblue: I plan to do a bit of house cleaning in my gallery here shortly.  I have always had an idea that I should have no more than 200 'deviations' on here, and there are a number of images that I have fallen out of love with and am not proud of anymore.

:bulletblue: Whilst I have you......... LightInspired :iconlightinspired: is holding a very cool photo contest with some AMAZING prizes up for grabs.  I am part of the judging panel and I hope to see works from all of you there.  Details can be found in this journal here:
Nature Photo Contest 2013
Nature Photo Contest

Nature provides us with a never-ending supply of inspiration. Technical quality, clarity and composition are all important, but so too is a flair for the ability to capture a picture-perfect moment related with interesting and unusual lighting. Light creates shadow and shadow in return, enhances the appearance of the subject. The interaction of the two is fascinating. Light can make the subject feisty or dull while shadows can make it mysterious or terrifying. The position and strength of the lights and shadows always set the general mood of the image and determine the real creativity of photographers, their vision of the surrounding Nature.
For the past 3 years, our LightInspired Group has joined more than two thousand of the best professional Nature photographers from more than 50 countries, and we lo

You have to be in it to win it.

Cheers

Greg

I have to admit that you take those types of photos which are absolutely unique and incredible !
They have magic, makes me feel like in fairytale, or dream world. I actually don't like landscapes or photos of the sky. They have to be really good, and enormous to keep my attention. And here it is !
You do amazing job ! Keep it up !
Have a great weekend and I'm waiting for more photos :)

You have an utterly amazing gallery, I'm almost speechless, really ;)
I would love more than anything to do the kind of photography that you do. I have ALWAYS loved the magic in the night sky & Orion is my favorite constellation.......
